About Me

  • LIFE IS REAL NICE WHEN YOU’RE RESTING ON THE BEACH.

Find out what a curmudgeon thinks about, when he has time to think. I studied art and architecture in college, got side tracked with other “adventures”,  and left without a degree. College was not a total waste of time and money, I did sell some watercolor paintings along the way. I’ve been married to the same fantastic lady since 1969. With God’s help, we raised 2 fantastic sons, have 1 great daughter-in-law and 2 terrific grandchildren. Just as important, on September 1, 2011 I didn’t retire, I changed lanes. Now I write about anything I want, when I want… social commentary, funny stories, politicians, art museums, religion, our governments, wasted food, mobile phone etiquette, or anything else that crosses my path. I will not accept any deadline. I don’t take myself seriously. I have no ulterior motive. When I want to say something, I want a place to say it without being interrupted. If someone reads what I write, fine; if not, that’s fine too. If I make someone laugh or smile, or rethink something, that’s good. At 75 I’m not seeking fame or fortune; I don’t have time for it. It’s reward enough to have someone read something I wrote. Since most of my followers are not prolific readers, I’m not a prolific writer. I write a NETPUB when I’m in the mood. Nonetheless, “Thank you very much for taking time to read this.”  Just call me “HEY RICH”, everyone else does…  NOTE: NETPUB translates to “BLOG”. I hate that word BLOG!                                  http://www.noulteriormotive.com

  1. Nice to know I’m not the only writer out there who dislikes the word, “Blog.” NETPUB is perfect! I look forward to reading more of your posts.

  2. Smiled when I read your term “netpub” because you hate the word blog. I hate it too so have coined the term “websketch” for my own writing online. Enjoyed also your characterization of changing lanes instead of retiring. I’m in the same lane. Will keep my eye out for more of your writing. We’re from the same era.

  3. Hey Rich! I’m really glad we are able to connect. I think we have a lot in common. Like you, I’ve been married for 40+ years and raised a great set of kids. I haven’t retired yet, but I like to NETPUB (to use your term) nights and weekends when I feel that I have something to say or share. I’m an avid reader and like to read different views/opinions on controversial topics. I look forward to sharing NETPUBs with you.

    • Thanks for taking time to stop by and comment. I appreciate it. I enjoyed your website and only wish more people would think like you… that ALL LIFE, be it wild or domesticated, is connected and should be respected, not abused to simply satisfy our selfish pleasures. I hope you keep your message coming.

  4. Any place that doesn’t take itself too seriously has got to be a good place to check out. (and there’s the beach thing going on)
Like the NETPUB concept. “blog” sounds either “disco” or “bloated”.
    Enjoyed touring the place.

    • Everything’s fine, finally. I appreciate you asking! I’ve been recovering from a ruptured disc and sciatic nerve problems since last April and have been very busy. But, believe me, I’m still around…

      • That’s great to hear, Rich!
I had a herniated disc in January and suffered until April…so I have an idea of what you must have been going through.
        Here’s to a complete recovery!

    • I’m very flattered you decided to recognize
NO ULTERIOR MOTIVE.COM with an award, but I must respectfully decline this honor. Thank you for your attention and appreciation of my humble ramblings. I hope you will continue to enjoy them. I will continue to enjoy your essays.

  5. Hey Rich, when you have some time, come to my NetPub and feel free to grab one of your best posts so I can feature you! Thanks again for stopping by. I’ll be looking through your blog. You have some interesting topics!

  6. Hi Rich, thanks for stopping by to visit today 😉

Nice NETPUB you have going on. 🙂

It’s too bad we have to guess what you think, maybe you should consider just speaking your mind! LOL!!

    • Regarding me speaking my mind… A couple years ago, when I worked for someone else, I supervised a few people. From time to time, someone would complain about this, or that; this was my response, “Please remember, we don’t pick the tune, we just dance when they play.” I certainly don’t want to sound smug, but I’m my own boss now. Now I pick the tune and I decide when I’m going to dance. And I do this with complete respect for everyone and everything I touch…except maybe for our politicians at all the various levels of government.

I don’t take myself seriously and I have no ulterior motive or motives.

I’m glad you enjoyed browsing on my website, and that’s all I can ask for.
