On 8/6/14 I emailed the letter below to US House of Representative member Mr. Steve Cohen and US Senators Lamar Alexander and Bob Corker. I’m most embarrassed to say, I helped elect them.
I also emailed a letter, similar in content, to John Boehner, Speaker of the House… Harry Reid, Senate Majority Leader… and Mitch McConnell, Senate Minority Leader. I’m most embarrassed to say they represent all Americans.

SUBJECT: I’M EMBARRASSED TO SAY I HELPED ELECT YOU…
Mr. Cohen, I’m embarrassed to say I helped elect you. I will not vote for you now, or in the future. However, I will vote for the incumbent for district 9 as long as congress balances our budget, no smoke and mirrors allowed. That budget must include a surplus of money equaling 25% of the money owed by congress. Otherwise, I’ll vote for the incumbent’s opponent, or write-in my name. Consistently balancing our budget is the most beneficial step to successfully managing and solving our problems. The same kind of intense resourcefulness utilized to save our Apollo 13 astronauts needs to be applied immediately to balance our budget and solve our problems.
JFK said, “Ask not what your country can do for you–ask what you can do for your country.” Instead of that, you and congress work to get re-elected so you can enhance your pay, your retirement benefits and honorariums and keep your health insurance. Do you have the wisdom to live beyond these present moments? Too many Americans sacrificed lots of blood, sweat and heartache so you and I can have our blessings. Americans deserve profoundly more respect and better results than you and congress are producing.
The citizens of the United States can’t afford to go on re-electing the people who cause our problems. Millions of voters are fast approaching the point of total revulsion with the INFANTILE performance of congress. I expect citizen disgust to be displayed by a stronger voter turnout than the traditional 55% (+/-).
Remember, Americans deserve profoundly more respect and better results than you and congress are producing.
